Heaps of ways to get involved
Oxfam Australia has taken to the road to spread the message about
poverty and trade. If you can't meet up with them on the road, there are
heaps of ways to get involved online.
The
roadshow launched on 13 November with a fantastic sailing and boat rally
in Mackay. Since then, the touring exhibition has visited lots of schools
and organised Fair Trade coffee tastings.
At each stop, the campaign show bags, which include 'Poverty Sucks 'lollipops,
Make Poverty History rulers, celebrity postcards and campaign wristbands,
are going down a treat.
The activists are also visiting local politicians in their electorates
and holding public meetings to discuss trade issues. At two of the meetings,
they share the platform with the Canegrowers Association.
Along the way, the Roadshow activists are having great fun taking photos
of the local sights – specially decorated with campaign messages,
of course. Activist Bruce Francis explains:
"The
giant cane toad was a highlight – we are really looking forward
to the giant prawn and the big banana. You can follow our progress on
our Roadshow blog."
There's also lots of excitement on the Oxfam
Australia website where you can create your own
e-card or send in a photo to the Bandit competition.
