Unfair trade rules may start to tumble after a landmark ruling by the WTO stating that US cotton dumping is illegal and must be stopped.

  • Every acre of cotton farmland in the US receives a subsidy of $230
  • In 2001 that led to a subsidy of $3.9bn - more than the entire GDP of Burkina Faso
  • In the same year sub-Saharan exporters lost $302m as a direct consequence of US cotton subsidies

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) now states that the majority of the subsidies the US pay their sugar and cotton farmers are illegal.

Email George Bush now and demand he accepts the ruling.
