Oxfam Ireland to double activist numbers

Oxfam Ireland looks set to double activist numbers after a busy six months of campaigning to Make Trade Fair. Here's a few recent highlights...

Credit: OxfamUrged on by singer Chris Martin, thousands of fans signed up to The Big Noise during the Coldplay tour of the Republic. Coldplay continues the good work at a gig in Belfast on 22 December.

Big Noise campaigners were also making themselves heard at REM concerts. With the band’s support, activists handed out specially designed Michael Stipe dumping calendars, which were very popular with the crowds.

Both Irish TV networks featured Make Trade Fair in the coverage of the Dun Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures. Activists also rallied the crowds at the Oxegen and Electric Picnic music festivals. Thousands of festival-goers signed up to The Big Noise.

The global Big Noise Petition will be presented to Ministers this December at the WTO Ministerial Conference in Hong Kong.
